With the company I work for getting bigger and bigger, a new office was definately in order and this week we finally cut our ties from the serviced office and moved into our own.

Problem was, the new office didn't have an internet connection, a desk or even a chair to sit on! So until the new office is ready I've been working off my XPS M1330 and my Nokia E90 tethered as a HSPDA modem between meetings and then back to my house to dock at my desk.

Having my notes stored in the cloud has definaltely helped as I can grab my synced notes and calendar on my phone without needing to boot up the laptop and when I need to get on with some more heavy duty work, I can basically set up office wherever I can find somewhere to sit!

Now if only the E90 supported virtual server...

Do you Cloud?

With my newest gadget arriving in the form of the Apple iPhone, I've got back to working on an old idea.

I've been following the works of Kevin Tofel and James Kendrick from JKonTheRun.com for sometime and I'm always impressed how they manage to run their work life using UMPCs and portable devices with ease. One of their main ingredients to this style of working has to be their almost constant connection to the Internet.

Which got me thinking, when was the last time you were on site and you knew you had notes about that bit of javascript or there was that natty shortcut, but you can't lay your hands on it? Or that time you're in the server room and you can't get to an Internet connection or your laptop because its sitting on the desk they gave you at the other end of the building?

Well, recently I've decided to start storing my notes 'in the cloud', on a hosted document server which I can access anywhere at anytime on any device. And all quickly searchable. I'm hoping to combine this with an Internet storage drive (such as Microsoft's own SkyDrive) to allow me to get access to (nearly) everything I need at anytime.

Will it work? I'll keep you posted.
